Room type

Sunlit Suite with white linen bedding and open balcony doors letting in morning light

First floor, east facing

Sunlit Suite

€340per night

The Sunlit Suite sits at the east corner of the first floor, where the original windows were cut wide to follow the morning. From May to September the sun clears the ridge just after six and fills the room with a soft amber light that lasts until the middle of the morning. Linen curtains take the edge off it if you would rather sleep in. The balcony is deep enough for two chairs and a coffee tray, and it looks straight down the terraces into the olive grove.

Garden Room

€260per night

The Garden Room was once the villa's summer kitchen, which is why the walls are thick enough to stay cool through August without air conditioning, though it has that too. Tall doors open directly onto the walled garden, so you can take breakfast outside without meeting anybody on the stairs. It is the easiest room to reach, with no steps from the drive, and the one guests with an early flight tend to ask for.

Top floor, private roof terrace

Terrace Loft

€410per night

The Terrace Loft takes the entire top floor, opened up under the villa's original chestnut roof beams. A short flight of stairs leads to a private roof terrace that nobody else uses, which is where guests tend to end up at seven in the evening when the valley turns gold and the swifts come out. There is a daybed under the window that suits a third guest or a long afternoon with a book.

Olive Wing

€520per night

The Olive Wing is the old granary, connected to the main house but with its own door onto the courtyard, so you can come and go at your own hours. A queen room and a twin room share a bathroom and a small sitting area with a kettle and a fridge. Parents get a door that closes. Children get the courtyard, the fig tree and a very tolerant house cat named Bruno.
